Los Angeles-based experimental/electronic artist and producer, Mint June, has released his new conceptual EP, Surrendering Nina. This new EP finds Mint June further pushing his sound and evolving from conventional music by exploring various genres like downtempo, house, industrial techno, and experimental film scores.
“Each track has its own vibe that I think is tailored to the overall ethos of the project, portraying the beauty and disorder of modern underground rave culture through the tale of Nina, a part-time bartender who finds herself overindulging in drug use when she meets a new friend named Paige.” – Jeremy Jung
The EP opens with the track, “Paige,” which begins our journey through the rave culture as Jung promised. There are plenty of electronic beats, and more. The track is definitely one for rave culture when you’re high on something.
The second track, “You’ll Like It,” is full of drums and bass. If that’s your thing, you’re going to love this song. The beat is fantastic and makes you want to dance.
Finally, the last track on the EP, “Nina,” is completely different than the others. It’s ethereal, breezy, calm, and beautiful. It feels like you’re floating through the clouds, it’s so dreamy.
I really enjoyed this concept album and his delivery of the different songs. It worked out very well.
