This Saturday is the second annual Locust Moon Comics Festival at the Rotunda on 4014 Walnut St. The West Philly comic shop, Locust Moon, is lead by Chris Stevens and Josh O’Neill. Saturday’s festival picks up where Alt Con convention, an alternative comic convention annually held at the Rotunda left off.
Locust Moon Comics Festival as its spiritual successor widens its scope, bringing in more mainstream artist. In attendance will be entertainment arts Renaissance man Jim Steranko, esteemed letterer Todd Klien, illustrator most known for her covers for Vertigo’s Cinderella Chrissie Zullo, and Pennsylvania’s own J.G. Jones making his bones as an artist for Top Cow’s Wanted, Marvel’s Marvel Boy, and DC’s Final Crisis mega-event. Just to name a few of the over 100 artist, writers, and creators that will be in attendance.
This year the festival is teaming up with the Jack Kirby Museum, a portion of the proceeds of the event going to the museum in hopes that the dream of its creation becomes a reality.
