Lo-fi rock band, The Prof. Fuzz63, shares their new single, “Nadine Codeine.” Originally from Dallas, Texas, the band has since released 3 full-length albums, one EP, and the new single will be part of their upcoming fourth album, Owls. The Prof. Fuzz63 is Professor Fuzz (guitar and vocals), Sleepy Redhead (organ and vocals), and Mr. B (drums).
“I wrote ‘Nadine Codeine’ in September 2018 while living in a studio apartment in Taipei,” says Professor Fuzz. “The band had a couple of shows lined up for early 2019, and I was reflecting on people with ‘punk rock names’ like Jean, Johnny Rotten, Johnny Thunders, etc. “Nadine Codeine” was the logical extension of that name game… “Nadine” then began to come together, first as a character living in a slow-moving cherry-flavored dreamscape fueled by cough syrup, then as a song about trying to get inside her and her world.”
“Nadine Codeine” is a retro and psychedelic song, which translates directly to their music video. While the vocals aren’t as present as I’d like them to be, the instrumentation that overpowers it has a great feel and sound to it. I definitely found myself tapping my foot to their trippy beats. The music video for “Nadine Codeine” is directed by Nick Brown and captures their “lo-fi psychedelic style” in the best way possible!
With “Nadine Codeine” out, be sure to keep up with the band because they have way more trippy musical adventures coming next month!
