They say rock and roll was born in the 1940s. They say hip-hop was invented in the 1980s. A new genre was born today though. That genre being, “Blue Folk”.
The mastermind behind this new genre is local singer/ songwriter Kwesi K. He describes his music as a mixture of blues, folk, and more. His latest album, Pronouns, is available now and it has received much notoriety for a refreshing blend of genres. From performing shows state to state to getting spins on WXPN, Kwesi K’s new album has proven to be able to be well received by people everywhere. The artist has experienced what it’s like to write hit songs with records like “Fold” and “By My Side”. He hopes to add another hit song to his belt shortly and plans to release a music video for “Pronouns”, the title track from his latest album shortly.
“It shows that people will be people and all the built up emotions of a whole life can be summed up in one night, at one party— frustration, jealousy, laughter, ecstasy, love, etc. This video will show that no one goes through it alone, we’re all in it, we’re all here,” says Kwesi K of the “Pronouns” video.
For fans wanting more, they can be on the look out for another new album coming soon that is sure to pick up where his last left off. Kwesi K’s musicality and lyrical ability will help him remain in the public’s eye for years to come. I strongly advise you to sit down, relax, and chill out to some Kwesi K today.
Kwesi adds, “In 2014 we’re trying to get in front of as many people as we can. New content, new videos, new music, new tours, and hopefully hoping back into the studio this summer. We’re really excited for the year to begin”.
Kwesi K has many upcoming dates in our area. Tonight, he’ll be at Dawson Street Pub.
