Kennedy Stephens’ beautiful, heartfelt tribute to Breonna Taylor, “Black Will See Praise (Wounds),” is out now. The tribute has earned support from the likes of Gayle King, Tiffany Haddish, Jamie Foxx, and many, many more. The track is now available via Def Jam Recordings.
On behalf of Kennedy, a contribution to the Social Change Fund will be made. The Social Change Fund is an organization created by Chris Paul, Dwayne Wayde, and Carmelo Anthony, to “support critical and timely issues impacting the black community.”
The video for Stephens‘ “Black Will See Praise (Wounds)” was posted on the Instagram page of her manager, Alex Avant, son of “The Black Godfather,” music legend executive, Clarence Avant.
Kennedy Stephens hails from Riverside, CA, right outside of Los Angeles. She began her career with Ford Models at an early age of six months. She’s worked with Fortune 500 companies including The Walt Disney Company, Target, Baby Gap, and Wal-Mart. When she turned 10 years old, she joined the girl group iD4GIRLS who were invited to perform in front of 200,000 people at the 50th Anniversary Martin Luther King ceremony. They also were invited back by the Obama White House later to perform for the First Family.
In 2015, Stephens made the decision to leave the group, and focus on her solo career. That decision allows her to pursue her personal goals, including music. We saw her release the debut single, “Check,” while at Cal State Fullerton.
