Stay Trippy

Juicy J’s third solo album, Stay Trippy, is loaded with guest appearances and some elements that perfectly fit the rap world, like common topics, strong beats and rough raps. Like most rap, the topics in this album range from drugs, counting money and violence. But it’s his energy and the beat that really bring this album together. The lyrics could really come or go and it wouldn’t matter. The 19 track album doesn’t disappoint rap fans.
As for the mentioned guest appearances, they include Big Sean, Young Jeezy,Pimp C, Wiz Khalifa and more. All of these guest stars seem to lend to the success of the album. Without them it still would have had the right elements but maybe not enough diversity to make it stand out in a genre that is evolving and in some instances, fading a bit.
While some tracks are kept simple and nothing stands out in the beat or energy level, Juicy J has others that stand out far above the rest. “Smokin’ and Rollin” was one that seemed to fit somewhere in the middle. With a repetitive entrance and fairly simple beat it doesn’t appear to impress at first but was catchy and stood out by the time it was finished. “No Heart No Love” and “Guns Plus a Mask” were the darker tones in the album but, in respect, all the most interesting because it took the focus differently while still keeping in theme with the others focusing on the “hard life” that rappers constantly rap about. “Show Out” is another strong, high energy track that makes it easy to overlook some of the less entertaining like “Stop It” and “Wax.”
