Damage

It’s shaping up to be a great summer for Power Pop and Jimmy Eat World adds to the landscape with their latest release, Damage. This album however, will not be the album you’re blasting out of your car window when cruising down to the shore, Damage will be the album you run to when your summer love breaks your heart.
This record is full of energetic songs with great hooks that make you want to sing along, and after repeated listening you can’t help but to start crooning out the tunes with Jimmy. Then when you hear yourself singing lyrics like “Are we only damaging the little we have left? Both of us swimming in the same polluted mess” and “It’s time we had a plan then of who will go, and who will stay, and when” and you realize that this is a serious album about break-ups. Not the kind of break-up you have when you’re young and there is nothing really at stake but your feelings, a few records and a t-shirt, but the kind of relationship break-ups that change lives around you, real, grown up break-ups.
Whether you’re deciding to make-up or break-up, Jimmy Eat World has put together an amazing album of songs that you should download in its entirety, but if you like to taste before you buy, essential tracks on the album are “Appreciation,” “Damage” and “I Will Steal You Back.”
