Melbourne

What better way to start your music career than by uploading a few tracks onto SoundCloud and winding up with so many hits that you land yourself a full album? That’s what happened to the Jackson Scott. Only 20 years old from North Carolina and recently on the music path, his debut album Melbourne introduces him to the indie rock scene.
This 11-track album is a mixture of sound and vocals and themes, with Scott able to change the sound of his voice at almost the drop of a dime and seemingly, the message in his songs as well. Although his voice never quite appeals to the ear the way other indie rock musicians can, slightly seeming to lack the soulful sound due to the tuning in the background.
The first track, “Only Eternal” gives you a look into his musical talents as Scott gives a short one minute track with no vocals and smooth transitions from sounds. This was perhaps the most interesting track as it engaged you with only musical sounds and did not pull you out with his vocals. All of his other tracks have distinct opening sounds but all seem to invoke a similar feeling of eeriness before his strange voice takes the stage, “Never Ever” being the best example of this.
Overall Scott has wonderful talent musically, being able to seamless blend his instruments and evoke feelings but perhaps a little heavy and strange when it comes to the constant change in his vocals.
