This past Sunday, January 27th Gin Wigmore gave me tickets to go see her at The World Café Live. I went in not knowing what to expect. I walked through the door of the venue and could instantly feel the vibes of pure rock n’ roll right of the bat.
After getting myself a glass of wine in honor of Gin’s album (Gravel and Wine) I waited patiently for the band to begin. The lights went dim and the crowd came to a halt. You could feel the anticipation rolling over the audience. One by one each band member walked out on stage and with every member entering the stage, the crowd grew more and more rowdy. Finally Gin enters center stage and the crowd went wild. They opened up with “Don’t Stop” off her album Holy Smoke and I instantly fell in love with the music.
Gin Wigmore is a musician who really appreciates her fans and has a friendly way of showing it. The entire time she was on stage, she made small talk with the audience. You could feel the love from Gin, to the band, to the crowd. The show was almost intoxicating from the first beat.
After Gin and the band were finished their set, each and every member walked out into the crowd to show their appreciation. To avoid getting trampled by the crazed fans, I sat at the bar with my girlfriend to re-up on a glass of wine. Little did I know, taking that seat would turn my night into one of the most fun and interesting nights of my life.
After signing hundreds of autographs and taking countless pictures, Gin Wigmore came right to me and said “Hey, I saw you having a good ol’ time out there!” I responded with a very excited “Of course I did!” From that moment on, Gin and myself got caught up in a two-hour conversation, talking about everything from music to movies to traveling and liquor.
Gin Wigmore is by far one of the most kind and loving people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. What went from a normal evening in Philadelphia turned into a night out with a celebrity- something I would never expect. Gin is a down to earth type girl who will show you nothing less then a good time. After making me throw back a shot of liquor, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Gin invited both my girlfriend and I to her next show in Philly, guest list of course, because she is awesome like that. Overall my experience with Gin and the band was unbelievable and I could not have asked for better people to be with that night.
