Genre-bending, alt-pop duo, Babygirl, releases their newest single and music video for the track, “Easy,” out now. I haven’t heard any artist or band like Babygirl; with their sad guitars and soft vocals, they create something beautiful with the track, “Easy.”
Babygirl‘s pop songs have garnered over 3 million organic streams and had been set to open for Lauv before the pandemic. They also previously penned Lauv‘s track, “Canada” which features Alessia Cara.
The video portrays the duo preparing a car for demolition derby — similar to how unrequited love is like being tossed around in a derby. Somehow the duo is able to rhyme “existential dread” with “breakfast in bed” paired with beautiful, soft synths and echoing guitars.
Babygirl received immediate love from Spotify with their first single, “Overbored.” In 2018, they released their EP, Lovers Fevers, which featured the single, “Soft”. The EP and single helped catch the attention of GRAMMY-nominated powerhouse, J Kash (Maroon 5, Charlie Puth), who signed the duo to Sandlot Records in partnership with AWAL.
Babygirl is Kirsten “Kiki” Frances and Cameron Breithaupt.
