Legendary post-punk band, Gang of Four, team up with Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine) and Serj Tankian (System of a Down) to record their 1979 single, “Natural’s Not In It” out now!
This anticipated release is from their upcoming album, The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four is set to release in May 2021. Their 1979 debut album, Entertainment! is remade with renditions from admired artists and bands, to celebrate the life and legacy that Gang of Four and their frontman Andy Gill left behind. The band shares that this album “transformed from a covers record to celebrate their debut to a timely tribute to Andy‘s genius and musical legacy.”
“Andy Gill was one of a handful of artists in history who changed the way guitars are played. His band Gang of Four was just incendiary and completely groundbreaking with Andy’s confrontational, unnerving and sublime playing at the forefront,” Morello shares. “His jagged plague-disco raptor-attack industrial-funk deconstructed guitar anti-hero sonics and fierce poetic radical intellect were hugely influential to me.”
Serj Tankian from System of a Down said “it was a real pleasure to work on this track with Tom and honor the legacy of Andy and Gang of Four at the same time.”
