Up for some dancing in Philly this Memorial Day weekend? Wish there was a way to get your groove on while enjoying the beautiful weather as summer approaches? Hang Free might be just the event for you. DJ and club culture is notoriously limited in the scope of its audience, with the majority of sets occurring at expensive 21+ venues, late at night, and in substance-heavy club environments. Hang Free provides a refreshing alternative to all of that, with DJs playing all day, outdoors on the grass, for all-ages, and best of all, for free! The event organizers promise a welcoming environment, with picnics and casual sports encouraged.
Since 1995, Hang Free events have featured a wide range of DJs, from legends such as Schoolly D (a Philadelphia native), to local DJs such as Linda Leigh and DJ Jugo. DJs scheduled to perform this year include DJ Under, Maggy’s Rooftop Aerial, DJ Argo and more, and given their pedigree and prior track record, this year’s Hang Free is sure to be unmissable.
The 2014 Memorial Day Hang Free will take place on May 26th, and will be located in Fairmount Park, four miles from Center City. For specific directions and more information, visit their website at http://www.hangfree.org, and be sure to sign up for their mailing list to be notified about future events. If you need any further convincing, check out DJ sets from previous years’ Hang Free, and get your body moving!
