There are a lot of Halloween festivities going on in the city Saturday, October 26, but will they be as spectacular as the East Passyunk 2nd Annual Fall Festival which starts at 11am until 4 p.m?
Rain or shine, starting at the Singing Fountain on Tasker and EPA, the streets will be turned into a Halloween metropolis teaming with people flooding the streets from all over who have come to enjoy live music, performances, family activities, crafts, food trucks, drink specials for adults, and tasty treats. Many businesses will be participating with trick or treating, too.
The days starts off at 11 a.m. with a kid costume contest in categories for the scariest, funniest and most original costume all within different age groups. The first group to go at 11 am is the four and under, at 11:30 ages 5-8 get to strut their stuff, and at noon 9 to 12 year olds show off their best costumes.
Dogs get in on the action too! There will be a doggy costume contest for the scariest, funniest, and most original costume as well starting at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will given to the pooches from Doggy Style. Every dog will be well taken care of with a water station and Fido treats for them to enjoy.
In addition to both the kid and dog costume fun in the early afternoon there will be other activities for the kids, too. Face painting, trick or treating along with free bags from Aversa PR for the first 500 kids, craft shows, art projects by Young Rembrandts, and other exclusive events for the first 500 kids will be available for the younger festive goers. The kids will also be able to get their groove on as they dance away to Halloween tuness from BEN F.M!
Adults, don’t fret, this event is for you, too! Throughout the whole event there will be great food and drinks available (and by drinks I mean adult beverages). A lot of food trucks and business will be on the scene ready for customers serving a number of varieties of food, here are just a few of the businesses participating: The Tot Cart, Ms. Goody Cupcakes, Stateside, El Zarape, Mamma Marie Ristorante, Stogie Joe’s, Noord, Fond, and Belle Cakery. Lets not even mention the free cider and donuts.
Live music starts at 1 p.m with the Passyunk Pickers, We Are Fauna at 2 p.m. and Rocktapuss at 3p.m.
There will be a craft show, a raffle for a scooter from Philadelphia Scooters, and information about adopting animals. There will be so many activities for children and adults that there is no point in risking missing it! So mark your calendar and make sure to come down to East Passyunk Ave. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to enjoy the free to attend fall festival.
