The LA-based dream-pop group, Between Friends, shares their brand new music video for the new single, “affection.” The trio of Savannah and Brandon Hudson and drummer Brennan Benko released the new single and the accompanying video to preview their debut album, ‘we just need some time together’, scheduled for release March 20.
The dreamy, hazy “affection” showcases Brandon’s indie-gaze vocals while Savannah’s enigmatic, haunting vocals add mystery to the track. The video invites the listener to hang out with the trio while aimlessly exploring the streets of Los Angeles while highlighting the carefree spirit of L.A.
The track, the group says, is what represents them at heart. Between Friends is a do-it-yourself musical art project with its member’s hell-bent on avoiding any musical boundaries or walls. In a press release the trio talked about track and what it means to them.
“‘affection’ is a song very close to us,” the band said of the new song. “At that particular time we made it, we were all individually and collectively going through a major growth period. In every sense, we kept falling back into relationships that weren’t necessarily good for us. Creating it felt like a therapeutic, almost ‘Fleetwood Mac’ way of getting through it.”
When Brandon’s tackling the production at the band’s home studio, Savannah pens the hazy, yet lush melodies and lyrics that are at the core of the song. Her lyrics explore “truth, love, and adolescence” while also styling, directing, and gathering raw photography from friends.
This can all be just between friends.
