Oakland-based dream-pop duo, Brijean, shares their next single, “Ocean,” from their forthcoming album, Feelings, due out on February 26 on Ghostly International. Brijean Murphy and Doug Stuart come together to create the dream-pop honeyed duo Brijean.
“Ocean” is elegant and soothing to listen to, while still having a bit of an edge in the production of the song. It’s ever-evolving and continues to move with the energy of the album as a whole.
“We want you to move, physically, mentally, dimensionally; this is dance music for the mind, body, and soul,” Brijean shares.
Their sound is best described as an “olden-hued dream-pop tropicalia of dazzling beats and honeyed vocals — elevates with the addition of live drummers, strings, and synths… With Feelings, they’ve manifested a gentle collective space for respite, for self-reflection, for self-care, for uninhibited imagination and new possibilities.”
In reference to the upcoming album, Murphy shares that Feelings has helped in “valuing myself as elemental instead of an ‘aux’ percussionist, and the undoubted support and talents of Doug, encouraged me to both make this project and collaborate with many different people.”
