Thomas Wesly Pentz, a former Temple graduate and Philadelphia teacher has gone from local Philly DJ to become an international demand in a blink of an eye. Better known as Diplo, he is worth getting to know.
Since exploding on the music scene, Diplo has everyone’s attention. Working with major recording artists from Beyonce to Bruno Mars, his list just keeps getting longer. Recently Diplo was invited to Atlanta to collaborate with 2 Chainz on his new single “Go Heavy”. Usher Raymond is also a big fan of Diplo as their hit single “Climax” smashed the billboard charts. They now have a new single, “Go Missin” which will sure to be another hit.
On January 20th Diplo went above and beyond anything imaginable by presenting the Trap Hawk Down Tour. Infusing electronic and trap music has gained recent popularity which Diplo has mastered. The Trap Hawk Down tour landed in four cities in one day. Yes, in just one day, Diplo traveled by helicopter to perform in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and New York City. Never before has a DJ offered such an ingenious and creative tour by being in four different states in mere hours of each other. He gets big props for this one and I don’t think it gets any more bad ass then traveling via helicopter.
In less than 10 years has gone from local Philly DJ to world recognized DJ, producer, songwriter, philanthropist and Grammy nominee. You can catch Diplo live in Las Vegas in early March. Keep up with Diplo news and tour dates at www.diplo.com.
