Battle Scars and Broken Hearts (deluxe edition)

Darling Parade released a deluxe edition of their album, Battle Scars and Broken Hearts. This 18 track album includes the original songs, remixes and acoustic versions as well. “Ghost”, “Coming Undone” and “Crash and Burn” have gotten both remixed and acoustic versions along with “Messin’ With Me” getting a remixed sound as well. The entire album works as a wonderful way to show the many talents the band has beyond what we’ve already known from them.
Lead vocalist Kristin Kearns has powerful vocals that are present not only in the re-release of the original songs but even more powerful in the acoustic versions. The harder rock sounds of the original album gain new light through the remixes, but really through the acoustic tracks. They take on a little less of an angry edge and more of a moody piece. The acoustic version of “Ghost” is perhaps my favorite track on the album. It really shows off her vocal range and the song takes a completely new life than the hard rock version.
