Direction

Recently segueing from acoustic to pop music, singer/songwriter DANAE’s debut EP Direction showcases her uncanny ability to break down barriers and turn any project which lands at her feet into spun gold. Collaborating with producers Sarin Kuruvilla and Phil Danyew, the EP is dazzling and evocative, reminiscent of everything we love about ’80s pop music while still keeping it fresh and unique.
The title track is melodic and vibrant- DANAE’s vocal ability shines throughout this catchy tune which one might say is a personal one, considering the new direction she’s taken in her music, career and even location (DANAE moved from DC to Nashville three years ago), but it’s a song that every listener can relate to and take away a feeling of renewal and accomplishment. “Gold in the Dirt” is a hypnotic song with soaring vocals and a sultry vibe. I am going to nominate that this be the next James Bond film’s theme song because it encompasses every aspect of a great spy movie: it’s exhilarating, visceral, smoky and drips with seduction.
Direction is a luminous debut, created with sunshine and never casting a shadow. Find it on iTunes and Google Play.
