Lose, the latest album by Cymbals Eat Guitars, is an ode to the guitar. From gentle, soothing tones to high energy beats, each song on the album demonstrates a masterful manipulation of the guitar’s dynamic nature.
Cymbals Eat Guitars draws the listener into the moods of each song through the instrumentation. In a few places, however, there is a bit of a disconnect between the vocals and the mood being set. A large portion of these jarring moments are obviously planned to make the lyrics stand out, but it is unclear if all of them are planned. Throughout the album, the vocals occasionally blend too well with the music and the lyrics become lost.
Overall, Lose could use a touch more polishing, but is definitely worth a listen or three.
