The Communion Club Night offered a diverse set of bands ranging from the passionate Johnnyswim to the energetic, upbeat Commonwealth Choir at the Underground Arts Thursday night.
Founded by Mumford and Sons member Ben Lovett, Communion Club Night is a monthly event in participating cities. It was started as a way to give local artist a platform and bring acts to venues they wouldn’t usually play. Local bands Damn Right!, Modern Inventors, Commonwealth Choir and Cruiser took full advantage of the opportunity Communion Club Night offered, each with a distinct style that makes Communion Club Nights so special. One can’t attend and not find a band to suit their taste.
With many amazing bands under one roof, the highlight of the evening was Johnnyswim. For those who aren’t familiar with the name, you may have heard their song “Heart Beats” from their EP of the same name. The married duo’s live rendition was just as powerful and the chemistry turning anyone in attendance into fans if they weren’t already. Catch Johnnyswim next time they’re in the area at the Ardmore Music Hall on April 25th.
For those who missed Communion Club Night this month at Underground Arts be sure to attend next month’s because you may find your new favorite band.
