Are you a fan of comedy? Cheesy 80s flicks? Do you live for old Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes, cracking jokes while watching campy movies and laughing until it hurts? The Doug Benson Movie Interruption will satisfy precisely that craving. Doug Benson is a comedian and podcaster. His Doug Loves Movies podcast, as well as his appearance on Last Comic Standing and his own Comedy Central show, The Benson Interruption, have brought him widespread fame and acclaim.
The movie at hand for this event will be the 1984 cult smash Revenge of the Nerds, and Benson will be joined by two actors who were actually in the original film, both as the titular nerds: Brian Tochi, who played the role of Toshiro Takashi, and Curtis Armstrong, who acted as Booger. The movie, which follows a group of collegiate nerds as they attempt to get back at their school’s reigning frat jocks for harassing, sabotaging and bullying them, is approaching its 30th anniversary, and the trio will celebrate this with a hilarious running commentary through the whole film.
The Doug Benson Movie Interruption’s Revenge of the Nerds screening will take place this Thursday, June 19th, at the Trocadero Theatre on 1003 Arch St. The doors will open at 8 PM, and the film will begin at 9 PM, but make sure to get there beforehand to ensure that you have a good seat for the movie. Unfortunately, this event is 21+, but all fans of hysterical comedy and 80s movies should definitely check it out. Tickets will most likely sell out, so be sure to purchase them here as soon as possible.
