“Folk Songstress Chase Cohl is excited to announce that her debut full-length album, Far Away and Gone, will be released on March 9th (produced by Loren Humphry and recorded at Valentine Studios in LA). In conjunction with today’s surprise album announcement, Chase has premiered the video for her latest single, “Stay Down,” exclusively viaLadygunn. The stunning visual is a beautifully personal and chic confessional where she uses fashion and expression to enhance her ambient, dreamy folk music.
“This song is a letter,” says Chase. “My heart had been hurt by someone I really cared for and, like so many people, I was left without resolution. After months of waiting for an apology, I realized it was never going to come, not in the way that I wanted at least. So I wrote ‘Stay Down,’ to be that absolutely perfect apology, from the man’s perspective, and in that process, I was able to let go of all the pain I had been clinging to. The special thing about this song though, is that it reflects a really important lesson that I’ve acquired, which is how to self-soothe. I think as an adult that is the greatest gift we can give ourselves, to learn that. We go through childhood knowing with certainty when we are sad or down there will always be someone to pick us up. As adults, that is not always the case, so you need to learn to pick yourself up, give yourself a hug, and keep it moving.”
Chase is a dual-threat. In addition to her musical talents, she is also the Vogue-endorsed designer behind the fashion brand Littledoe and will be collaborating with the popular clothing line Dôen, for an exclusive series of videos that will launch following the album release.
