More Music, More Family

If you’re looking for a relaxing break from the daily grind, look no further than Cas Haley’s new album More Music, More Family. This roots-reggae singer/songwriter is pumping out smooth, soulful music that transports you straight to ocean breezes and summer air. Full of sway-inducing rhythms, Haley’s raw vocals, and featured artists (Trevor Hall, Mike Love, Drew Misik, and Tubby Love), take you back to old times with good friends.
Starting off with the title song “More Music, More Family,” an air of tranquility and happiness is created. The whole album follows this trend; calm, relaxing tunes guaranteed to put a smile on your face. While the album is fundamentally rooted in reggae, Haley infuses each track with influences from outside genres, forming 12 solid songs that have the same base, but are easily identifiable. “Before It’s Too Late” starts with a reggae-funk fusion before shifting into a swing towards the end. “Will You Be Ready” features a jazzy bop and classic bluesy harmonies and background vocals. The instrumental “Ryan’s Family” dances on the border of pop. Each groove is expertly crafted, from the instrumentation to the lyrics to the harmonies.
After taking eight months off due to the inability to sing from a freak ski accident, More Music, More Family proves that Haley is back, and still producing the pure, comforting music he always has. If you were looking to take a load off, this is the perfect album to hang out to…and you can even do it live! He has a show coming up at World Café Live on December 10th. It’s the perfect reason to kick back on a Thursday night.
