The Perth-based electronic musician and producer, Captn K, are excited to share their new EP, Salad Days EP 12″ via Picnic Records Australia.
“This is music for the lockdown generation. Inspired by the sounds of the 90s house scene and the frustration over the state of things, a planet suffering, and people on the edge. Yearning for a new attitude, a variation on a theme, the EP pulls on those nostalgia strings. The end result has surprising parallels with the love lost. However, the music is inspiring and warm. It’s sadness and happiness at the same time!” Captn K explains.
In 2020, the producer took a dive into the lo-fi pool, and what resulted from is a 35-minute EP containing six “moody” tracks. The EP also touches upon downbeat, lo-fi house, and broken beats.
“Salad Days” is this bombastic track that really just makes you want to dance and move your body; while on “Unspoken Words,” there is a continuous beat with the cymbals, then it transitions into single cymbals. He incorporates the use of synths, which gives the track some depth.
On “Try Harder,” there’s no shortage of sick dance beats that make you want to just move your body.
