The Canadian-based band, the Daddy Raygun Band, released their debut single and accompanying music video, “The One-Armed Man,” out today.
Inspired by the TV show, The Fugitive, the song tells the story of someone who was wrongfully convicted in the murder of his wife and the hunt for the “The One-Armed Man” who was seen fleeing the crime scene. The ballad has a similar sound to the likes of The Doors and the storytelling lyrics that were popular in the 1970s.
“I come from a long line of storytellers and have always been intrigued by dramatic songs that take the listener on a vivid audio journey,” lyricist Danny Regan said in a press release. “My musician friends challenged me to write this particular style of ballad and agreed to provide the musical accompaniment to my words. And thus the Daddy Raygun Band was formed.”
The video of the single was made using Rayoptics© and public domain images. Each graphic was animated individually to create a video that is a combination of “graphic novels, pulp fiction, and classic cinema.”
“The marriage of our alluring song and compelling video provides the perfect vehicle for this fascinating journey into mystery and suspense,” the band said.
The Daddy Raygun Band is a collective of musicians from Toronto, Canada. Their sound features an alt-Americana/gothic country blend that is focused on taking listeners on a journey through a song’s lyrics.
“The One-Armed Man” is available now across music platforms and the video is available on YouTube. Or stream below.
