by Ari Roth If you are looking to escape the daily hustle and bustle of city life in Philadelphia, and immerse yourself in beautiful music and art in a natural surrounding, then Beardfest might be just the thing for you. Located in the town of Hammonton in South Jersey, the eco-friendly Beardfest describes itself as “a breath of fresh air,” and an antidote to the speed of the modern world. To that end, the festival promises bands, yoga, art, workshops, and more, all in a friendly, open, community-oriented environment. The festival is organized by the band Out of the Beardspace, and they will also be performing there, along with many other acts, such as Swift Technique, In The Presence Of Wolves, Moon Hooch, and Awesome Teenage Democracy. Music will run almost continuously throughout the three day event, but there will be many opportunities to step away from the action and explore the many workshops and artists that the festival has to offer, including information on homegrown food and urban gardening, work from artists Anne Yoncha and Juliana Noone, and even a course on home-birthing! Beardfest 2014 will take place at 2201 Weymouth Road, Hammonton, NJ, and it will run from Friday, June 13th at 5 PM through Sunday, June 15th at 5 PM, although attendees may begin camping on Thursday night if they so choose. For more information, visit Beardfest’s website here, buy advance tickets for a lower price here, and check out the Facebook event page here. Get away for the weekend, and lose yourself in the natural world at Beardfest 2014!
