Sing to Me- Live in Boston

Brooke Waggoner released her first full length live album Sing to Me- Live in Boston. The album was recorded at Berklee College of Music this past spring. It contains 11 tracks from previous albums as well as two unreleased tracks. She has a beautifully melodic voice that I would have liked to hear sing a little bit more.
Many of the tracks are from Originator, which was released this past spring. The tracks don’t appear to mesh together, but is to be expected as concerts feature music from all alum’s traditionally and all albums can’t be tied together. It is a little disarming to hear the clapping in the middle as well as her speaking as it takes you away from enjoying the music. It was due to that I didn’t enjoy this album as much as I think I would have simply listening to the tracks on their perspective releases.
“Shapeshift” opens the album and is an interesting choice. It is a highly stylized piece of music and auto-tuning is used to make her sound disoriented, almost like being underwater. ” Rumble” then shows a pop-rock side, loud and energetic, it is a complete shift. “Inkslinger” is perhaps my pick for favorite on the album. It is another rock, only this time a little harder edge and more entertaining to listen to. ‘Welspryng” is a deeply melodic piece that adds a soulful smooth calm to album, but the vocals slide and are predominately spoken, making it less entertaining to listen too. The new track, “San Juan Capistrano”, is another slower and more enjoyable track that had a beautiful presence.
