By now you’ve already attended the Opening Tap and had some fun at a homebrewing competition. Now it’s time for your Philly Beer Week to take a turn for the zany. Enter Dunkel Dare, a yearly competition wherein two teams, featuring four brewing companies, go head to head on a number of trivia questions and challenges, all about beer! As always, the event will be led by Marc Summers, a current Food Network star who is perhaps best known for Double Dare on Nickelodeon, the game show after which our Dunkel Dare is named. The format mirrors that classic show, and based on some of the clips out there of previous years’ events, it’s going to be tons of fun. The event also benefits the Philadelphia’s Children First Fund, which is certainly a worthwhile cause.
This year’s Dunkel Dare will be held over the course of two days – June 4th and June 5th – at Frankford Hall. There are no tickets or entry fees, but you will want to enjoy some of Frankford Hall’s wonderful beers, so be sure to have some cash on hand. The proceedings will kick off at 7 PM and run into the night, so get cozy and be sure to come for both days! For more information, and to learn how you can enter for a chance to be a part of one of the teams, head over to the event page on the Drink Philly website here. Come on by and enjoy, I dare you!
