Last week, we wrote about the smash success HopChef Philly (congratulations to winner Ben Puchowitz of Cheu Noodle Bar!). That competition pitted chefs from across the city against each other in a battle to create the perfect mix of beer and food. Now, Michael Schulson, a legendary Philly chef who also works for one of the HopChef represented restaurants, Sampan, is opening another great food and drink haven in the city that seeks to do just that: the Independence Beer Garden.
Located near Independence Mall, this brand new open-air venture will be a hotspot of Philadelphian beer and food, and much more. From classic fries and burgers, to more intricate dishes, all will be finely crafted by one of the city’s best chefs. In addition to a stellar menu that draws from Schulson’s flawless culinary pedigree, and an absolutely unparalleled beer list, the beer garden will be absolutely gorgeous. This isn’t just a place to sit down and grab a bite. The Independence Beer Garden really is a garden, with a beautiful, sprawling, open environment that gives attendees a total experience beyond what’s going on in their taste buds.
The Independence Beer Garden will open to the public in grand style this week on the morning of Tuesday, July 15th. It is located at 100 Independence Mall West. This exciting new restaurant is sure to become a staple of Philly food culture, drawing beer lovers and foodies from all over the city for years to come.
