This event, which will take place at Underground Arts on June 1st, features home-brewed beers by amateur contestants. They will be judged by a panel who will give awards to the best beers based on category and type of beer, as well as an overall Best of Show award. Anyone with an interest in homebrewing and amateur beer is sure to enjoy the expertly judged ceremony around which Mash Bash is centered.
The awards ceremony is certainly an exciting attraction, but Mash Bash offers much more than that. The event will also, naturally, feature beer that is available to attendees throughout the night from bartenders and a variety of brewers. In addition, there will be guest lectures on “A History of Philadelphia Brewing” and “The Chemistry of Brewing Beer” beforehand, and a number of breweries present for workshops and activities after. The addition of live music caps off an intriguing and certainly worthwhile afternoon and evening filled with beer.
The event will begin at 1 PM, and continue on into the evening until 9 PM, so be sure to arrive early and stay late to take in all that Mash Bash has to offer. In addition, tickets are only $10 at the door, making it cheap enough to warrant interest from any Philadelphia beer lover.
