Despite the disappointment of the postponement of their sold-out tour due to COVID-related, ongoing lockdowns in Australia this month, the duo Rest For The Wicked hasn’t let that stop them from continuing to release original, cutting-edge music, such as their brand new, sophomore single, “Feel The Same Way,” out today via EMI Music Australia/Universal.
“Feel The Same Way” is a relatable track about indecisive love with elements of indie-pop and rock with a definite 90s feel. It has such an original sound, with warm synths, similar to the band, Portugal. The Man.
Rest For The Wicked member Ben Townsend explains about “Feel The Same Way”:
“‘Feel The Same Way’ is an upbeat jawn sure to lure your crush into letting them know they are the one. Might destroy a relationship or six. Mystery is intended…” he then adds, “I wrote this to remind myself and others in the same position: ‘you’re awesome, you’re the reason they have feelings towards you and not because they think you’re someone else.’ If you never go, you never know…”
The duo’s producer, Tasker, adds, “I wrote that synth line in the intro and the melody on the recorder when I was in Grade 6. And just kept it in my head for all these years knowing that it would come in handy, which it did.”
Rest For The Wicked is a collaborative project featuring Melbourne artist, Ben Townsend, and Sydney experimental producer, Tasker.
Tasker notes: “It’s okay to not know who you are. It’s okay to not know what you’re doing or where you’re going. It’s okay to fuck up and forgive. There’s nothing wrong with laughing through the misery and crying when filled with joy. Life’s a strange and wondrous mystery,” Townsend adds, “Sometimes the best method of madness is to give in to the overwhelming feeling of fear you feel and mold it into something undeniably greater than yourself.”
