Indie rock duo, Lowertown, is thrilled to share their new music video for their single, “Best Person You Know,” out now on Dirty Hit. The video was directed by Michael Cully.
Lowertown’s Olivia Osby and Avsha Weinberg first met in math class in high school and discovered their shared love for DIY music. Now they create, record, produce and master all of their music from their basement studio.
In 2018, they first released their song, “George,” and was recorded when they were just 16 years old. In 2019, their debut LP, Friends, earned millions of organic streams on Spotify. They plan to release an EP in the works for a December release. The new EP was produced by Weinberg.
In regards to “Best Person You Know,” “The lyrics for ‘Best Person You Know’ were inspired by a friend I once had who had no idea what he wanted in life. He ended up living without any direction or specific purpose to his actions, and he hated himself for it. My friend ended up acting carelessly and began doing things that were dangerous to himself and others furthering his own self-hatred. This song was written to emphasize the importance of living with direction and purpose and what happens when you start to give that up. The structure of the song was written as a reflection of the emotions one experiences while maintaining a friendship with a toxic person; it represents the conflicting emotions and how quickly things change.”
