Say What You Mean (Sideways Sessions)

Allison Weiss released an acoustic version of her album, Say What You Mean. The album was originally recorded as a pop album and this acoustic version takes away all the sounds and elements that made it pop, leaving behind a more folk art sound. The emotions in the songs feel very real and raw. I suspect in the pop version they may have felt a little more shallow.
Aside from the musical tones everything in this album is the same, from lyrics to song order, as the original release earlier in the year. Some songs felt dark and moody, others felt light and airy in contrast to their initial release counterparts. The standout track for myself was “How to Be Alone” with “Don’t Go” as a close second.
