A Rocket to the Moon released their long awaited EP That Old Feeling today. The album features lead singer Nick Santino, guitarist Justin Richards, bassist Eric Halvorsen and drummer Andrew Cook singing and playing their hearts out. They sound like a rock band with a little country mixed in, each song is upbeat and happy, and the lyrics are just adorable.
That Old Feeling begins with “Whole Lotta You”. It will quickly become a fan favorite. It’s a perfect song to start an album with, because within a few listens you’ll be singing the lyrics and you’ll be dancing along to the music. You may end up singing this to your significant other, because it’s Santino singing about needing a whole lot of someone. It’s a feel good song that sounds like four friends jamming on their acoustic guitars and drums, clapping their hands and having a blast.
Who doesn’t get a little wild when they go out on the town with their friends? That’s exactly what “Going Out” is all about. The entire song is about telling everyone that their going out, getting crazy, and forgetting everything and just enjoying the night out.
“You’re My Song” starts out with Santino singing that “I grew up on the Beatles and you grew up on the Stones,” which could be an argument from the beginning. But then the song goes on to feature lines from popular music, like Penny Lane, Sweet Alabama, and Born to Run to name a few. It’s such a creative way to bring up these epic songs from music history and use them to tell a girl she’s your song.
A Rocket to the Moon have an upcoming tour to promote their fantastic album with the following dates. Too bad they’re not coming to Philadelphia, because their live shows are most likely amazing! Please check out their album on ITunes and Sound Cloud you will not be disappointed.
