Today marks the beginning of That Music Mag‘s coverage of Philly Beer Week, starting with the Opening Tap celebration on May 30th to kick off a week full of a variety of exciting beer events. Mayor Michael Nutter will be present at the Opening Tap to inaugurate this year’s festivities, and the night will feature beer from dozens of acclaimed breweries, such as Lion Brewery, Sly Fox, Yuengling and Evil Genius.
Many of the featured beers will be new or exclusive, and this is a great opportunity to try them first. Feeling extravagant and willing to spend for your experience? $90 will get you VIP admission to the Opening Tap, giving you access to additional beers that the rest of the attendees will not be able to try, as well as your own VIP area and a private tasting just for you.
In addition to all of the great beers, there are a number of other attractions in store for this year’s Opening Tap. Acclaimed local band The York Street Hustle will give a live performance during the event, playing their deep catalog of classic soul just for attendees. There will also be a raffle with many prizes, culminating in the chance to win a Kegerator, a beer storage, refrigeration and dispensing machine, for your own home. The Opening Tap will take place from 7 PM to 10 PM at the 23rd Street Armory at 22 South 23rd Street, and tickets are limited so be sure to buy yours now! For more information, visit the event page here, and buy your tickets here. There is a reduced ticket price for designated drivers, so be sure to bring one along with you, and remember to stay safe!
