Las Vegas local band Avalon Landing is amping up their tour schedule. This is an eclectic band with a style that’s best classified as indie rock. However, they also have a strong semblance of pop sound in some of their tunes. The five-piece band all contribute to the writing of the songs in some way and all draw inspiration from many things. The main goal for their music is to ” reach as many people as possible,” says Mike Vargovich, guitarist and vocalist for the band. Having a uniqueness of having four vocalists adds to their interesting sound.
Avalon Landing began in Buffalo, New York. They recorded a demo there but it wasn’t the home base they actually had in mind for the band. They had every intent on making Las Vegas known as their base and Avalon Landing’s first show in Nevada was at the Bunkhouse Saloon in Las Vegas. They have been predominately playing at venues of a similar kind and in local festivals.
With influences including Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie the band works their way through their album, Demons, Dead Ends & Do Overs, adding their own sound to the ones that inspired them. Playing mostly Las Vegas venues, the band has recently expanded their tour lineup to include California and is hoping and planning to continue do so for the 2014 year as well as frequenting top Vegas venues like House of Blues and The Palms Hotel.
