Summer Knights

Joey Bad@$$ is back with his second album, Summer Knights. Following up his first album, this young artist hits the ground running with his 17 track album. With the name Bad@$$, explicit language isn’t a shock and this album has certainly earned it, dropping bombs left and right. Following in the footsteps of many talented hip hop artists before him, Joey Bad@$$ brings back the popular 90’s sound and flow of rapping that has seemingly disappeared in most artists of his genre. A little bit older means he’s had a little bit more time to practice his art and his lyrics are more polished, his flow a little bit smoother. A great collaboration with other artists making appearances in many of the tracks.
Jumping right into a fun intro with “Alowha”, it lends curiosity to the listener to keep going to see what happens when he slides into music with the rest of the track. ‘Lost in this Time’ is the perfect opening lyric to “Hilary $wank” as this song, and many others on the album take you back to the 90s when hip-hop rap was at it’s height of popularity. With perhaps his smoothest flow coming halfway through the album in “Goonz”, the entire album has the ease of a skilled rapper. “Satellite” opened on a beat reminiscent of 50 Cent and delivered throughout with the feel of that rapper.
Overall a great flow with music that dancers can easily sit into the albums only trouble area was a few swallowed word endings when the pace picked up a little bit. Joey is currently a part of the Under the Influence Tour with Wiz Khalifa
