Hey Now Y’all,
No time is better than now to acknowledge that change is inevitable and with change comes opportunity. Hello, I’m TJ McGlinchey and I am so very grateful for this opportunity to be the new Editor-In-Chief of THATMAG. For some time now, I have been aspiring to take a step up into an administrative or managerial role and when this opportunity presented itself I was ready to be that guy. Synchronicity notwithstanding, I have always wanted to be a journalist and have daydreamed about being the editor. Those daydreams have come true for me and for that, I give thanks and gratitude. Thank you for having me and for trusting me to steer this ship rightly.
We plan to diversify our content and maximize our potential reach. But most of all, we want to bring you news and reviews about media for which you care deeply. We want to tell you about the latest, brightest superstars as well as the mainstays of music, the originals, the guardians of soul and rock’n’roll. We will be making every effort to cover as much of what’s happening as is humanly possible.
Our overall mission, however, is that we want to make you a part of building up the music scene. We want to see you out at shows and discuss the latest albums; it’s all we ever want to do (no, really). We want to see our fellow musicians, journalists, artists, etc. out on the scene and we want you to help us hold them up and give them greater visibility to encourage their continued success. That’s our job; to promote new music and performances and to provide critical reviews of the various forms of media that accompany those artists’ performances. Please join us in the campaign to make our friends famous, you might be that person!
We are also looking for new members of the THATMAG team. We are currently on the search for a Social Media Manager, a YouTube Video Producer, Journalism interns, and (of course) a few more solid and readily available Staff Writers and Staff Photographers. Thanks to everyone who has been contributing, you are the backbone of this operation, and we appreciate you. At this moment, these are volunteer positions. But that comes with the caveat that if we get our numbers up we can start paying our contributors. That is the ultimate goal. We want a bigger more active team, more and different kinds of content, and feet on the ground (as well as an ear to the rail) out on the scene. Join us, if you will, on this adventure in reality…
Sincerely,
Rev. TJ McGlinchey, MFA, MAE
