Get ready to go on an exploration when you listen to Lust For Youth’s album, Perfect View. This is the third album release for Swedish producer Hannes Norrivde. This electronic/techno album is filled with intriguing beats and lyrical sounds that evoke a sense of exploration, be it to the stars or into a tropical rainforest.
The combination of sounds in this nine track album are both intriguing, fun and beautiful in their mixes. Each track began with sounds that seemed to pull me from my seat, make me feel like I was looking out into an expanse, into something new. All the while, the songs create a catchy tempo that would make this album decent for dancing.
If I closed my eyes at any point in any of the tracks I could picture myself in a realm of discovery. ‘Found Love’, ‘End’ and ‘Another Day’ in specific felt like epic tracks from a favorite science fiction movie. While other tracks, such as ‘Breaking Silence’ had a lighter sound, almost airy. Other sounds were consistent in reminding me of the chirping of birds and the running of waterfalls.
The album did have a slight drawback- the insertion of lyrics. Remaining true to the genre, the lyrics all had the presence of an echo. The problem for me was that they ripped me out of the emotions the instrumental created. Harsh and repetitive I found it difficult to grasp the sense of joy I found at first for many bars of the track.
