The Japanese singer/songwriter and rapper, Haru Nemuri, will release a new record, SHUNKA RYOUGEN, on April 22, 2022, with a massive 21-song tracklisting. The album will be available digitally and on vinyl.
In 2021, Nemuri released new music including singles “Bang,” “Inori Dake Ga Aru,” “Seventh Heaven,” “Old Fashioned,” and “Deconstruction.” Those will all be on Shunka Ryougen.
Nemuri‘s influences range from American post-hardcore icons, Fugazi, to Japanese avant-garde music legend Susumu Hirasawa. That’s what makes the music she’s created so special; her music has a unique vibe to it, unlike any other artist I’ve heard before.
Over time, Nemuri says, she’s been able to develop her beats and riffs “to feel of more wideness in natural space” that would have been difficult to produce before. “I am now able to create sounds that are further closer to the ideal,” she adds (via a press release. “When I have ideas for songs, I am just an intermediary to help bring them to life. I strive to fulfill that role.”
Nemuri has made music for herself first and foremost; however, now the world is watching and listening. She recently had a live session on KEXP and is about to begin her first tour of North America.
