The Miami-based, alternative rock four-piece celebrates the release of their new EP, Working For a Future, out now. The EP features three new songs and an alternate version of one of their fan favorites, “Pendulum.”
The EP opens with the track, “Glass Jar.” This song talks about learning about someone’s true intentions and the guitars and drums are written in waves to match the mood of the song.
On the second track, “Running Away,” the lyrics are so introspective and interesting. Vocalist Bruce Donaldson sings “I guess I’ll be on my way, but I have nowhere to go… I think of turning towards you, but what am I supposed to say? You’re every place I wanna be, you’re every breath I wanna breathe. I live for you and you alone.”
“The journey we took working on this collection of music is one that has been challenging and rewarding for me in many different ways. It gave me an opportunity to express emotions and feelings from my life in a way that I feel others can connect with their own journey through life. I have found a new sense of patience working through the creative and recording process, in part due to external complications in the world, but mostly through spending time finding what it is I need to say in my art opposed to just what I want to say. My intention is that people find a message of hope and perseverance in the melodies and lyrics and also that they can find themselves in the story. I hope they can let go for a moment…and breathe out.” – Bruce Donaldson, Singer
The third track, “Atlas,” is my second favorite song on the EP. It has an awesome melody with great lyrics. I really enjoyed this track.
The final song on the EP is the fan-favorite, “Pendulum.” The song is very dark and moody, and I can see why this song is a favorite among the band’s fans.
Overall, I think this EP is a great listen with some great original tracks.
