Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ajay Mathur shares a new 2-version single, “Anytime At All (Aftermath of Silence)”, out now via Yakketeeyak Music. The song includes a “contemporary urban” remix and an acoustic version.
This track was written shortly after John Lennon’s senseless murder, the song came from some emotional trauma that Mathur experienced. It wasn’t the first time that he had been exposed to death – the insanity of John Lennon’s murder in itself was more than enough. Plus he lost his parents when he was just a toddler. This song was written from the perspective of who was close by when Lennon when shot.
Fast forward to April 2020. Mathur heads to his home studio and begins to sing the song “Anytime At All (Aftermath of Silence)”. At that moment, he had clarity and began working on his album. He recorded, finished all tracks, including both of the versions of the song. He worked with pianist Michael Dolmetsch, Steve Birrer added the pedal steel.
“People exit our lives for many different reasons – end of a relationship, geographic separation, death by illness, carelessness or maliciousness of others – and we are forced to face the void. Recognizing that they are never really gone is where we can begin to find peace and comfort. ‘Anytime At All (Aftermath of Silence)’ describes that moment of clarity, that the people who have touched you deeply are always going to be there with you. All you’ve gotta do is call.” – Ajay Mathur
