The award-winning producer, singer-songwriter, composer, and sound engineer, Chris Birkett, is thrilled to share his brand new single, “Precious Love.”
This song has a beautiful story behind it. Birkett was performing with Buffy Sainte-Marie at a Massey Hall concert, where he a beautiful woman named Joan Prowse, who had created a documentary about Buffy.
A few years later, Birkett and Prowse decided to exchange valentines in Paris. Birkett was smitten on this second meeting, and he proposed to Prowse after one day. They got married at Toronto’s Metropolitan United Church in March 2013, close to where they first met, at the Massey Hall concert.
This song, “Precious Love,” was written for Prowse, and features some of the best musicians in the area, including Bill King (keyboards), Gene Hardy (sax), Paul DeLonge (drums), and Taylor Abrahamse (background vocals).
Chris Birkett is a multi-talented, award-winning producer, singer/songwriter, composer, and sound engineer. He’s worked with superstars such as Sinead O’Connor, Talking Heads, and Quincy Jones.
His career began in clubs, playing guitar, with London artists, before touring with Memphis artist Rufus Thomas, Anne Peebles, and King Floyd. When he was 23, he was in the music group the Love Affair, whose song, “Everlasting Love,” ruled the UK charts. A year later, he joined the band, Omaha Sheriff, who had just signed a recording deal with Tony Visconti, manager of Good Earth Records, and the producer for David Bowie and the Moody Blues.
Currently, Birkett is creating new recordings for a variety of talented Canadian and European musicians and is completed immersed in his upcoming albums: Songs From The Kauai Hotel Room and songs from his new collective, The Happy Campers.
