The rising alt-pop star, Luke Wild, shares the next single, “Everything Is So Hard,” from his forthcoming debut EP, Sunburn. The track is off his forthcoming, debut EP, Sunburn, and was co-produced by Danny Parra.
The dreamy song, Wild says, is about “‘Everything is So Hard’ was written before 2020, originally about the idea of younger people making their problems bigger than they are. I was driving one day and just said ‘damn everything is so hard.’ Being broke, doubting yourself, mental health, etc. It was written as more of a light-hearted comment, but now in 2020, it feels much more serious… but I like that. I like how it’s evolved and I wrote it for everyone to scream at shows, and also comment on after something bad happens to them to lighten their own mood.”
Sunburn will be released by Terrible Records on September 18. Wild previously released the single, “Easier To Lie,” which has garnered critical acclaim from the UK’s Clash, Alternative Press, and Buzzbands LA.
At only 24-years-old, Wild already has over a decade-plus of music experience under his belt. Raised on the craftsmanship and soulful vocals of R&B and rock music, Wild is a son of a pastor and grew up in Tampa, Florida. At 5-years-old, he began playing piano, and then guitar and bass at age 12. His church was a big part of his musical life, performing in gospel bands at his church (and then later throughout the Southeast) when he was a teenager. Simultaneously, he was listening to the alternative rock and soul music he gathered on his iPod he got as a kid. And to the Elvis and Marvin Gaye classics, his grandfather loved. He also played in a punk band. “I kind of had a foot in everything,” he says about his musical upbringing.
It was later in college when Wild began spending time in a studio. Working on other people’s music gave him more confidence as an artist and he eventually dropped out, moved to Atlanta, and began producing and engineering recordings for trap rappers. Later, he decided to move to Los Angeles and resides there now. Last fall he found himself in the studio with Parra working on Sunburn.
“There’s a little bit of a melancholy to it, but there’s also an energy and anger, because I was sleeping on my manager’s couch, and I would wake up one day, and my car would be towed, or someone broke in my car, and stole my guitar the first week.” Wild continues, “just life and classic LA shit, funny artist stories. And then Danny [Parra] would call me at 1 am and be like, ‘Get over here,’ because he’d have extra studio time, and we would work on my record till 5.”
