The 19-year-old pop/R&B songstress, Lillimure, from is excited to share her new single “Something” written about a very stressful time in her life.
The song opens with a jazzy tempo and the R&B/soul vocals from Lillimure as she sings about life and hardships: “there’s a whole lot I don’t know/untouched and said/and so I can’t wrap my head around/I try to stay so untouched by this world/but everyday/I just don’t know/we seem to be losing ourselves/in a string of lies/and I don’t know if I can be silent anymore/they say everything happens for a reason/I don’t know if I believe it/but at least it’s something to hold on to…”
The song is a beautiful blend of jazz, funk, R&B/soul, and pop music with Lillimure’s soulful voice gracefully soaring over rhythmic drums (Henry Mermer), elegant jazz keys (Sam Caldwell), throbbing bass (Jason Robbins), and the gentleness of the guitar (Dawson Abdurahman).
“This song was inspired by a series of events that made me feel helpless. It’s about finding what resonates with you the most to push through and knowing that there is an educational value to every situation. I hope this song can break the stigma about success- for every notable win, there are more unseen ‘losses’ and true success comes from overcoming the obstacles you face to do what you love.”
