The Berkeley-based psychedelic rock/jam band, Crooked Flower, are excited to share their new music video (see other videos on their YouTube channel) for their track “Around and Around.”
The single, taken from their album Into The Light (as well as from the forthcoming video album, Legalize Me, Love Me). The four-piece began their story in 2011 when Daniel Erik and Dan Ingberman decided to combine forces.
The video (currently at over 283,700 views) is a “dual-use” song. “In part, it’s a love song about a partner who goes back and forth,” says the band. “I wrote it during the throes of that situation. But this song is also a commentary about the irrationality we see all around us – the willingness to believe things that are blatantly false while accusing others of peddling ‘fake news.’ The Drug War is obviously part of this but of course not all of it.”
The band’s latest album, Into The Light, is a solid, anti-prohibition record, which was released in October 2018, is a complete work dedicated to Canada’s Liberation Day on October 17, 2018.
With Into The Light, Crooked Flower is continuing the creativity from the recent successes in 2018 of their Darkness and Light EP and their live album, Blooming – The Light Rail Sessions.
It all began when bassist Daniel Erik entered Dan Ingberman’s home when Daniel was four-years-old. Ingberman was a songwriter and a guitarist who had been playing in the St. Louis area for many, many years. Erik was enamored by the Ingberman’s setup of drums, keyboards, bass, guitars, and recording studio.
In 2011, at age 18, Daniel moved to Berkeley, California and him and Ingberman began playing music together. Three years later, they recruited Patrick Shields on drums and percussion and Angelina Dang on vocals, guitars, and keyboards.
Crooked Flower‘s debut album, End of the Highway, was released in 2016-17 to the success of the singles, “Too Broke to Fix,” “Coming Back,” and “Goin’ Down The Highway”). The band’s latest album, out April 2019, features tracks like “Moving On,” and “Tunnel of Light.” Both speak of messages of love, life, and loss; while another track titled “Boyfriend” is about longing nostalgia.
