I Wish More People Gave a Shit

Don’t call it a comeback. You, Me and Everyone We Know are a band that have had their fair share of drama but it’s Ben Liebsch, the only remaining member, who’s been picking up the pieces and continuing to release music, despite the fact that it seems like the world is against him. Which is why when hearing the title of YMAEWK’s latest EP, I Wish More People Gave a Shit might seem like he’s searching for his last battle cry. Instead the EP calls out the problems of the world and deals with issues such as rape in the brutally honest track “Better Men” and the overall destruction of the earth on “I’d Contribute More Dead”.
With his snarky lyrics, Ben Liebsch offers his commentary on what’s wrong with the world and humans in general in a sincerely blunt way. For fans of Say Anything and the catchy hooks of New Found Glory, the EP is definitely one to check out, especially if you miss the clever metaphors and unique vocals of Max Bemis- Ben Liebsch is said to have similarities to Bemis. Although, the EP’s lyrics are extreme and too preachy at times, the overall message about saving the earth and being a better person is strong throughout. While it may not stand the test of time, it’ll definitely be on repeat for me and hopefully the lyrics will spark the change we need in the world, which is what I think, despite how pessimistic he seems, is just what Liebsch is hoping for.
