What If I told you the band shirt in your closet or the one you’re wearing now did more than promote your favorite band by driving a donation for breast cancer awareness? I bet you’d be happy to pick up another one and so was Mark Beemer who established the Syrentha J. Savio Endowment in 2002. SSE, a non-profit organization, uses programs like the “Shirts for a Cure” to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Prevention. The concept is simple: A band designs a t-shirt in whatever way they want and then donate the rights to the SSE which uses all proceeds for sold shirts to help women battling breast cancer. Notable bands like Bad Religion, NOFX, My Chemical Romance and the Dropkick Murphys have thrown their hats into the mix.
Shirts from the company are reasonably priced at fifteen dollars apiece and can be seen and purchased through the website. Donations are accepted as well. For more information about SSE, the “Shirts for a Cure” program and other programs, check out http://www.syrentha.org
