An after party should be just that: a party. And a party was had in the Balcony at the Trocadero this weekend after the second day of the convention with bands Another Vendetta, Sparklefight and a performance by Pretty Poison Burlesque to bridge them together.
Atlantic City’s Another Vendetta opened the night with unapologetically hard core death metal trash and kept it that way. Not enough orderly chaos out there and AV brings it. Who knew AC had music too?
Pretty Poison Burlesque put on a multi-set that was a mix of old and new school performance. The stuff of dreams fulfilled a horn of plenty of sexy sassy shenanigans under a spotlight complete with props and pasties.
Sparklefight is just straight up raunchy rocking fun. After this performance we can safely say that no music collection can be considered complete without a copy of their album Sperm Tsunami. The good time these three bring cannot be overly expressed. Seriously.
It is easy to question the direction that music is going in when all you see on TV is the resurgence of boy bands and the women who dump them (they call them “One Direction” but no one ever says what direction). All you have to do is leave the house to see that rock isn’t dead in Philadelphia. Louder than pop deserves more notice and and will get it when the kids grow up and wonder what it was they were doing (until after reunion tours). But support is never not appreciated and these are some locals that you should look to notice.
