After New Jersey native, JAX, placed as the 3rd runner up in season 14 of American Idol, she was poised to get started on her music career. But a thyroid cancer diagnosis temporarily stopped her career in its tracks. Following the removal of her thyroid and undergoing radiation treatments, she’s back to her passion of music with her EP, Funny.
Funny is a set of five songs chronicling her life experiences and the courage she developed while being forced to deal with such a diagnosis at such a young age.
JAX shines brightly on “Stars” where she illustrates that “stars can shine without darkness” throughout life’s struggles and that she’s been “a fighter” throughout her struggle with her cancer diagnosis.
She belts out “…how are any stars suppose to shine/if it’s not in the darkest night/struggle makes me feel so alive/there’s nothing in a win without a fight…”
On “LSD,” she touches on addictive, yet toxic relationships where she sings “don’t you know, don’t you know/you’re everything/even though you broke/everything/4 AM, AM/and you’re calling me/no, you hang up/but don’t actually…”
Her bad-ass attitude and sass on “Wrong Girl” is awesome when she sings “I was hoping/you ain’t a liar/or a cheater/but it’s true/you thought you could get away/making a fool out of me/but you have no idea/I am going to/completely destroy you/you messed with the wrong girl…”
JAX has all the pieces to be a huge star. The voice. Beautiful. Strong. Determined. Ambitious. Funny blends the the greatest and catchiest elements of pop, dance, and electronic music into five radio-friendly songs which clearly show that JAX is the ultimate pop star.
